Notes on Stedfast Meeting 8th September 2018

Notes from the meeting to form a Stedfast Association held on 8th September at St Leonards Methodist Church.

Basically it was a very friendly networking of people with similar interests with refreshments supplied. Rev Peggy Heim blessed the meeting with an opening prayer.

Those present: Raymond Williams(3rd); Dave Smart (7th) Julia (Dave Smarts Daughter) (7th) Darren Ward (3rd) Russell Hampton (3rd) Mick Pegram (3rd) Sheila Sinden (GB) Rod Sinden (3rd) Sean Chalcraft (3rd) Stephen Page (2nd) Richard Christmas (3rd) Olo Ake (3rd)

Those who expressed interest but were unable to be Present: Ken Harper; Neil Chalcraft; James Bacon; Cyril Pelluet;

Keith Miller; Tony Chinnock; Andrew Loveday; Gary Wallis; Beaulieu Bourner; Alan Mills; Rod Osbourne.

The following agreed to form a group to carry the idea forward; Darren Ward; Sean Chalcraft; Russell Hampton; Rod Sinden and Neil Chalcraft to be approached.

·      There is no Constitution for an Association but objectives from others do exist

·      We need to spread the message wider by a facebook page web site etc

·      Once ideas firm up information and posters to churches that had BB Companies

·      Once the group has met Sean will approach the Bexhill Band made up from ex BB boys to see if they have an appetite to be part of our group or to join us as well.

·      Decided to hold a couple of events planned by the group to widen the membership

·      Group would meet in the next couple of weeks to plan a post Christmas Dinner on a Saturday Evening and a Bible Class on a Sunday Evening (Mick Pegram would help arrange)

·      SLMC can offer Badminton to which there was interest, Table Tennis board games etc

·      It was agreed that the Association should not just be for ourselves but should have a wider impact on the community

·      The membership fee would be around £15 per annum

·      The membership would be open to: All Old Boys (that is BB old boys); Ex Officers; Friends and Supporters of the Boys’ Brigade. It was suggested that members of the GB should also be allowed and the above specification allows that.

·      It was felt that a firmer direction for the Association would evolve as more people became involved.

·      The meeting ended with a lusty rendering of the BB Vesper.
